No Big Hurry

Everyone is looking for a good investment these days. And with stocks, currencies and companies all foundering, some are finding that taking the trip of a lifetime is actually a smart move right now. Prices are good, crowds are sparse and the dividends—expanded worldview, lifelong memories, the satisfaction of boosting the global economy—can’t be easily snatched away. Sylvia and Paul Custerson, a retired couple from Cambridge, England, recently took a 16-day vacation to Namibia, where they went on safari and bird-watching excursions. Later this year, they are planning a trip to Patagonia. “We’re using our capital now,” says Sylvia, 64. “And why not? We’re not getting any interest in the bank. New York Comedy Festival is Almost here
The Fifth Annual New York Comedy Festival has expanded to include 26 shows and adds a search for “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up”.

November 5-9 in New York City promises to be one big belly laugh. The 2008 New York Comedy Festival is taking over the city, hosting a wide variety of events at venues all across the city.

Now in its fifth year, the Comedy Festival has an impressive line up of comedians including headliners Carlos Mencia, Sarah Silverman, Frank Caliendo, Tracy Morgan, Louis C.K., Joel McHale, B.J. Novak, Brian Regan, Craig Ferguson, and Katt Williams. Read the rest of this entry »

The Eiffel Tower was built in 1887 as the entrance arch to the Exposition Universelle, the World’s Fair. The engineer, Gustave Eiffel, prepared its unique design to enable it to take the high wind velocity at the height of 324 meters even if it allows for a sway of 2-3 inches in high wind. The ‘eyesore’ for the Parisians at the time of its construction is now a monument linked to many historical events and structure that represents France, and more particularly Paris, all over the world.
